My grandmother’s sheep

Native Lens

Tiara Collins is Fort Lewis College graduate from LeChee, Arizona, which is nearby Antelope Canyon and the southern shores of Lake Powell, and part of the Navajo Nation.

Tiara created her NATIVE LENS submission in LeChee, where she has been residing since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, featuring members of her community engaged in traditions that are part of daily life.

Tiara is excited to share her family’s story.

“For a Native woman you hardly see any representation of yourself in the dominant culture. Your story is never heard, nor seen from the outside world. This opportunity was great because I was in control of telling my story… that in the middle of a global pandemic the story of my family will reach so many others.”
